""So many factors could change this rating that are asking for. It's really best to look at what Hot Chilly's is rating this top. They rate it at an 8 out of 10. So this is going to be pretty warm. I would recommend the Hot Chillys Crewneck Thermal if you are looking for something that's not as warm. ""

"They are both a micro-midlayer so in terms of warmth they are going to be very similar. However the Smartwool is of course made out of the Merino wool and will feel and perform differently than this Hot Chillys top."

For a base-layer without that feature I would advise you take a look at the Hot Chillys Peppers Bi-Ply Baselayer Top (Men's) .This base-layer shares similar features, such as the synthetic blend material and a warmth rating of 7/10. The biggest different is that this base layer is a relax fit and Soft knit for a T-shirt-like feel. I hope this information helps! "
