Comments about Rollerblade Maxxum 90 Inline Skates Men's, Black/White, 10:

Size runs small, so order one to 1 1/2 sizes greater than shoe size. Uncomfortable at first, but will gradually comform better to your feet during first 200 miles. I am a straight-ahead fitness skater who will usually skate 12-18 miles when I go out. Using my old skates (Oxygen KR 1.1 from the mid 90s), I would often break 35mph on the reasonable downhills during my skate. The Maxxum ups that to approx. 40mph. If you have ever done those speeds, you know you really do not want to go to much faster than that due to stability issues. A simple gust of cross-wind could cause quite a problem at those speeds, but I find these skates are stable. I am still getting used to going from 72-78mm wheels to 85-90mm. it takes some time to become acclimated and feel like a different pair of skates (and feeling much higher) are naturally part of your foot. When a 1/2 inch makes all the difference between clearing steps, curbs, uneven pavement, and "kissing the pavement", I have taken my time skating aggressively in cities with these skates.

The Rollerblade Maxxums are much smoother (especially on the poor pavement of Seattle where I am currently on a project). The hard shell is necessary when constantly beating on uneven/cracked pavement and navigating curbs and steps on a consistent basis at higher speeds (20+). The skates are stable, fast, take getting used to because of the harder foam liner, but I will take it anytime over the liners in my O2 skates whose foam and fabric materials were shredded and torn long ago. If you are a straight-ahead fitness skater like me, you will adjust and really enjoy these skates, especially when you get down your form for sharp turns where the hard shell really shines with its stability. To save on possible blisters for those doing 10 miles+ when breaking in the skates, I suggest two pairs of wool socks, and maybe even cut up a soft baby blanket (like I did) and wrap it over the ankles and lower leg with an ace bandage. Works well

Comments about Rollerblade Maxxum 90 Inline Skates Men's, Black/White, 10:

I normally wear a size 9-9.5 in my shoes and started off by ordering the 9.5 in these inline skates. The 9.5 was so tight i had to reorder a size 10. The size 10 didn't fair to be much better. These have to be one of the most uncomfortable skates I have ever worn. I do not have a wide foot whatsoever, but these skates make me feel like I do. I don't see how anyone who has a wider foot or a legitimate size 10 foot could wear these for more than 20 minutes. Unfortunately, I used the size 10s to try so I can't return them anymore.
