Comments about Osprey Farpoint 40 Backpack Men's, Volcano Grey, S/M:

I bought this bag for a round the world trip with my boyfriend. I bought him the same bag for the trip because it was so good. We've saved hundreds of Euros on flights because these bags fit as hand luggage on all flights. Not only that, 3 months into my trip I broke my foot and had to use two crutches for 6 weeks. The bag was so well fitted and neat that I was actually able to carry it with my two crutches no problem!

Comments about Osprey Farpoint 40 Backpack Men's, Volcano Grey, S/M:

My partner and I bought these packs over 2 years ago now. They still look brand new, despite using them quite a lot.
We have the large size (42 Litres). This size is perfect for us, and we intend on using them when we travel full time.
I only have a few issues with this bag.
    1. The laptop compartment is at the front of the bag. This changes how the weight is distributed. It should be against your back.
    2. The water bottle holders at the front are pretty useless. If your bag isn't completely full, you can use them. But with the straps going over the top, it's still not very convenient or secure.
    3. I wish there were more compartments for little pieces.

Apart from those issues, I love these bags and do recommend them.

Comments about Osprey Farpoint 40 Backpack Men's, Volcano Grey, S/M:

I was looking for a travel backpack for some time, first was looking for wheeled backpacks but found it kind of not being practical for me, i do quiet a bit of business and leisure travel a year (5-8 times) and well aware of a good backpack or carry-on pros & cons.
finally i came to decide between this backpack and eagle creek 40 liter one and chose this, really like it.

Good but lack of updates over the years says look elsewhere

    By

    from USA

    Pros

    • Airport friendly (USA)

    Cons

    • Water bottle pockets don't work with full pack

Comments about Osprey Farpoint 40 Backpack Men's, Volcano Grey, S/M:

I use this for business travel for 5+ years. Great for carry-on in the USA can go overhead or under the seat even when full. I also use this to travel to China with 2 weeks of clothes (packing experts only). Comfortable for broad shoulders, but cannot remove/put away the hip belt when using the shoulder straps which gets in the way (must always fold them under after mounting the pack). The outside water bottle holders don't work for me when the pack is full. The metal frame is wonderful and is very comfortable on my back. The zippers have held up under stress, but they always feel subpar compared to my other packs with premium YKK zippers that seem to get better with use.

Overall I recommend this pack for airline travel, but the fact Osprey has not updated this pack over the years means I will pass on it when my current one wears out (starting to wear out now with material rips).

Comments about Osprey Farpoint 40 Backpack Men's, Volcano Grey, S/M:

I have had this pack in grey for over a year now and used it on numerous short business trips within Europe as well as for day hikes and carrying the weekly shop home from the supermarket. It has fit the bill for all these tasks well. I selected this pack because it was one of the largest backpacks I knew I could bring as carry on with budget airlines (think Easyjet, etc.). I have flown with it at 15-20 times and never had any problems with it being too large for carry on size. I find it easy to pack for traveling or hiking. The small waterproof pouch is great for passport and liquids at the airport (no leaking!) and it is fairly secure once the straps are buckled across it. The zips are super sturdy. The one downside is that although the back is padded and somewhat aerated, you will still sweat if you're carrying this pack a long way or in warm weather - I suspect all packs would have this issue though. The pack still looks in good condition although it's been treated pretty hard while traveling and I've been using it daily for walk commuting for the past couple of months.
I am a 5'5" medium frame female (size 8) and purchased the size S/M which fits me well. I would definitely purchase this pack again.

I got this pack to take across Europe on a 6 week backpacking trip. I love the way everything fits into, the fit, and the durability. My only suggestion for the company itself is to mix up the color schemes. I know this is a minut factor, but for me if I'm buying something at this price point that will be on my back daily, style is an added bonus! I think introducing new color schemes would be good for business!

I was desperately looking for the best travel carry-on backpack available on the market. I read all the reviews on all backpacks and finally ended up with the amazing Osprey Farpoint 40. No doubt, this was the one ! This reliable piece of equipment was my everyday buddy for almost 5 months in Southeast Asia and I surely do not regret my choice. This backpack will follow me on every single adventure in the future and I will never replace it for another brand or model. This is the perfect travel companion end of the story !

Comments about Osprey Farpoint 40 Backpack Men's, Volcano Grey, S/M:

Went to Vietnam for 2 weeks with this bag and looked for something that could go anywhere and travel fast, as well as meet carryon requirements. Having gone 25k+ miles over 7 planes, 5 cars and 2 scooters, I can safely say this is the best carryon bag i've owned and helped me focus on a minimalist approach to travel. Never been excited for a pack as much as this one. Got a simple combo lock that happened to fit through BOTH lockable zippers at once, so double win. I also own an Aether 70 for backpacking, so I understand utility vs comfort, heavy vs light load, etc etc. Don't normally write reviews online, but i felt this was warranted.

              Great pack!

Best travel pack I have ever owned, highly recommend this one for some one that travels with the essentials.

I bought this bag for a 4 month backpacking trip through SE Asia. I'm about a month in and so far this bag has been everything that I need it to be! My only downside is that it doesn't meet the carry-on size for AirAsia, a low-cost carrier in the region. It does fit carry-on size for Delta Airlines however so I can't really complain. I would recommend both this pack and Osprey products in general to everyone who needs a reliable pack.

I bought two Opsrey backpacks--the Farpoint 40 and the Ozone 46. My 13 year old son carried the Farpoint and I carried the Ozone for a three week trip through Italy. Both packs worked great for us, but we both preferred the Farpoint. It turns out we didn't need all the pockets on the Ozone. The Farpoint you can open like a suitcase and that is really helpful for packing. It seemed more compact for traveling but also seemed to hold as much stuff. The one think I liked better on the Ozone was the easy access iPad pocket.

Have traveled with backpacks for 40+ years but this is the best pack I've ever had. I did a lot of research before buying this, and it turned out to be perfect for the type of travel I do....international, fairly lengthy, and pretty active. I can only assume that whoever designed it has traveled extensively like I have.

I object to a whole bunch on unnecessary straps, zippers, or little pockets....I've even been known to cut showy, weighty things off brand new packs...but this pack hits just the right balance of features, security, and size/weight. The fact that it's carry-on compatible on most scheduled air carriers is just a bonus.
                      A wonderful backpack.

This bag is an all-round solid bag for folks who like to travel light. It is highly adjustable with an excellent hip belt for carrying all day long. It is lightweight, attractive, and flies under the radar as it is carry-on compatible.
I use one large and two medium packing cubes to keep my clothes organized inside, but am blown away by how much this bag fits.
