I bought this last year when our family was headed out west to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Our longest hike as a family was about 6 hours long and I found this pack able to hold absolutely everything I needed with room to spare. I purchased the 3 liter hydraulics reservoir which worked perfectly in its own compartment that rides right by your back. The main compartment has a divider in it as well. I was able to carry my jacket, lunch and even some emergency supplies should we be out longer than expected. It is super lightweight and you can hardly tell that its on your back. If I wanted, I could have even carried my hammock if need be. I also used this pack to travel recently and found it to be perfect to carry my book an travel pillow as I flew to CA, FL, and TX in a 3 week period. One of the best features that I like is the clip in the small accessory compartment which I use to clip my keys onto so I know they are secure when I return to my car. Great pack for the buck.

I purchased an OSPREY Daylight 20 a couple of weeks ago for a hiking trip I was taking in Costa Rica. I didn't have a chance to try out the bag until my first big hike in the mountains when I discovered a design flaw with this bag. The side pockets are too shallow and wide to hold a water bottle securely in place. It was very frustrating to have the bottle falling out every time I leaned forward. I loved everything else about this pack and immediately upon my return to Canada I tried to exchange the bag for a different one. I was told by the Warranty Department that this is a "preference" issue and not a defect. I disagree with this assessment and I am a disappointed customer as a result especially given how OSPREY prides itself on its unlimited warranty.
If you don't mind using a camel pack for your water there is no issue. If you like to have water the old fashioned way in a bottle secured to the side pocket you will be disappointed in this bag.

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

My wife and I each received a Daylight Plus Pack with hydration bladder as part of a package from the company that organized our 12 day tour of Israel. These packs were amazing, useful, durable, lightweight and comfortable. From our tour group of fifty there were no complaints. I particularly liked the rubberized zipper pulls and would love to have similar zipper pulls on other packs of mine whose pulls are failing, falling off, etc.

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

I am not a minimalist but a "functionalist" when it comes to gear. I wanted something to carry incidentals on short hikes with the dogs or a pack around town. Front pockets give me quick access to keys, wallet, phone (or extra poop bags). Enough cargo room to carry extra shirt, towel, whatever. Pleasantly surprised to see this bag works with add-on water bladders, which are well designed. Only real complaints are side mesh pockets are too shallow for water bottles (when not using the water bladder) and pack feels a bit narrow when putting on (for those of us with broader shoulders). Good price point, too.

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

Really like the looks and setup of the compartments. Zippers seem good and don't hang up. The pack is Semi ridged and stand up, which I like. So far the only thing I would change is Peace that connects the shoulder straps tends to dig into your lower neck. Its not bad just using for work, but for a all day hike , I would expect this to get old after a while. Its not a deal breaker, and I would still buy this pack again.

      Happy trails

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

This pack was the perfect daypack for my three month trip to SE asia. I used it nearly every day. It's comfortable, suitable for day hikes, and well designed. Just for reference, I could fit the following in the pack: A lightweight fleece jacket, a rainjacket, a bottle each of sunscreen and bug spray, maps, a guidebook, a kindle (in the laptop pocket), a few granola bars, and a baseball cap, and still have a little extra room at the top. It was pretty durable as well. It has just the right amount of organization. It stood up to 10 days of intense day hikes, being flung on top of buses and shoved on the back of trucks, covered in dust and dirt without even the tiniest rip. I popped it in the sink with some castille soap when I got home and it looked just like new!

The side mesh pockets were a problem, because, as many reviews have said, they are too small to fit the standard 1 liter Nalgenes or similar without the bottles slipping out. However, the buckles that are on each side (running from the shove-it pocket to just below each shoulder) have little holes in them that you can thread small, lightweight caribiners through to clip to larger water bottles. I gather that the Daylite series is really designed for use with a hydration bladder anyway.

Unfortunately, the front shove-it pocket was too small to fit my raincoat, which totally defeated the purpose. However, luckily the backpack is spacious enough to fit my raincoat and another jacket inside, so I didn't really need it. It just seemed a bit pointless. Overall, I absolutely love my Daylite Plus and would definitely recommend it for travelers and day hikers.

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

I am surprised to read comments about water bottles falling out. This is clearly not a 'proper' daypack - see the various daypacks Osprey makes for serious hiking. This pack is excellent for when you're travelling and want something small and light. It also makes for a perfect 'personal item' when doing air travel and can thus be in addition to your main carry-on item (though of course check). When you want to bring a small day pack for casual use, which could include some hiking, without bringing a full-on day pack this is perfect. If you want a proper daypack for extended hiking then you might want to spend a bit more. I have both - this for casual use and a bigger day pack for 'proper' hikes and similar.

I walk/hike on holidays/weekends. This is a good capacity backpack BUT the water bottles slide out as the elasticised tops of the side pockets are too loose. I was going to buy another Day lite plus, but will wait tosee if Osprey corrects the side pocket issue.

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

Bought one of these as a replacement for a day pack that fell apart at the 2017 Boy Scout National Jamboree. The pack is well made and a quality item. My only criticism is that the external water bottle pockets are too shallow. Unless your water bottle is secured to one of the side straps with a snap link, it will easily fall out. Otherwise, there is little to criticize. The pack can carry a small first aid kit, an EDC kit, a light jacket/rain shell and snacks for lunch.

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

As i can't fit my entire review in here - short version:

        Postive:
Great main compartment with a laptop sleeve big enough for a MacBook Pro 15" with DVD drive.
Front/top zipper pocket roomy enough for a wallet and glasses in a hard case.
Kangaroo pouch zipper compartment is very useful.
        Durable material.

        Negative:
Main compartment don't open without open the kangaroo pocket unbuckled
Kangaroo pocket poor, don't trust to hold anything, especially as advertised in the product video on Osprey's website.
Side mesh pockets poor, items fall out easily - mentioned before by other reviewers.
Main compartment zipper stuck very easily in the rain cover flap.
        No handle to hang.

This is a great small pack. Bought it for my wife it wil hold everything that she needs for a hike at for travel. People complain about the side pockets not holding water bottles, they are not water bottle pockets, as the description says- side mesh pockets- it is a hydration pack. Use a bladder. As I said great small pack. If you need more pockets or a bigger pack buy one don't rate it poorly because you bought the wrong one.

I bought my Daylite Plus last fall but wanted to use it with a hydration bladder before posting a review, which I finally did last week. This is a wonderful pack. It is just the right size for my 6'0" self. It holds plenty of cargo in a simple configuration. It is very lightweight. But the main criterion for judgement is this: When I'm using it, do I forget that I have it on my back. The answer is yes. It's that simple. I'll admit that I've never loaded it with heavy cargo, but I don't need to. Water, snacks and a few apparel items are all I need to put in it for my use. The name is self-explanatory: "day" and "lite." If you need a pack for an overnight or heavy cargo, look for a different model. If you're looking for a pack to enjoy lightly-loaded day hikes, I highly recommend the Daylite Plus.

I bought this for travel and day hikes and it works fairly well for those purposes but because the side pockets don't hold water bottles(they slide out when bending over) you have to put the bottles in the main compartment which takes away space from the main compartment and makes getting water out difficult.

This pack is great. Holds my laptop for work and ALL of the stuff my kids and I would need when out on a day trip. Fits easily under a airplane seat and has held up well with extensive use. BUT I am retiring this bag and on the hunt for a new onebecause as much as I love the bag, the water bottle pockets on the side are horrible. They do not hold the water bottle in. Every time I set the bag down or lean over the water bottle comes right out. Drives me nuts. Something to do with the angle of the pocket, sometimes the water bottle won't even fit in the pocket at all. It makes no sense. Other than that, its a perfect bag.

My wife bought me the Daylight Plus backpack for our trip to Tucson (Sabino Canyon) hikes. I am very happy with the back pack with on exception. The two water bottle pockets SUCK! I cannot believe this product made it to market with this huge flaw. Just today I was hiking with my wife and dogs. I had taken the pack off to fetch water dispensary for the dogs. While putting packback on (very carefully I must add) the nalgene quart size water bottle falls out and rolls into the creek. Thank goodness I wasn't at 2600 feet in the desert in 100 degree heat with no water close. My suggestion is first thing Monday morning the Osprey engineers do their job and create a solution and redesign the water bottle pockets to hold a water bottle. I am selecting I would recommend this product but with a caution that the water bottle pockets SUCK!

Comments about Osprey Daylite Plus Backpack Men's, Tahoe Blue, OS:

I have used osprey packs for school all the way to backpacking adventures. I needed a daypack and I love the quality and size of this pack; however, when I wear this for an extended period of time (i.e. More than 20 minutes) my neck starts to ache pretty badly. I think it had to do with the strap/handle combination, but I really can't wear this on hikes of for travel. I'm really bummed.

Bad choice if you carry an external water bottle

I bought this pack recently to use on day hikes with my wife and dog. I wanted something we enough room to carry water for all three of us, some food, some basic supplies, and rain jackets. Having everything is one pack makes it so that the other person can wrangle the 90 pound puppy. We are able to do all of that with this pack.

It really has a lot of space, and it still sits comfortably when loaded close to its max. It is easy to adjust, so we will occasionally switch out who has the pack and who has the dog. We like this pack so much, we actually bought another one for use when we aren't out with the dog.

I would very highly recommend this pack.
