This jacket actually comes with a waterproof shell and a removable insulated liner jacket that can both be worn either independently or together. This means that you get both an outer and midlayer for cold days, you get a waterproof shell for milder wet days, and you get a low-profile liner for wearing everyday. The liner jacket on the Pixey Triclimate is even reversible giving you a staggering fourth wear option.

"You can use it as a winter jacket, provided that you have a good mid and next to skin layer on, as well. This jacket was designed for a person that is going to be active. I don't know how long you are going to be out in the cold too. That is also something that needs to be determined as well. "
