The Never Summer Proto FR X Wide Snowboard gives aggressive freeriders the same kind of innovation that freestylers have been enjoying for a decade. While the “other” Proto is built for the terrain park, this one is built for big lines with a WooBoo Core that combines traditional wood laminates with bamboo, making this board stronger and lighter at the same time. Then it’s reinforced with an Elastomeric Carbon Damping System, which puts carbon fiber rods in the tip and tail to add snappy response and powerful drive to the already aggressive core. But that aggression is balanced, both by the elastomeric synthetics at the ends of those rods but also by the RDS 1 Damping System. Which means more of your energy will flow down through the Triple Camber Profile, NS’s newest profile that adds an additional section of traditional camber for a ride that’s more aggressive, but also more predictable, than ever before.

- A central section of rocker starts edge engagement at the center of the board, making small adjustments feel rocker smooth, but still allowing them to bite with camber power on icy slopes
- Two outside camber areas riding from just beyond your feet out to the Early Rise Transition Areas bring stability and ensure your board digs in when you really lean over to carve
- Sections of rocker sandwiched between the three camber sections allow the board to maintain Never Summer’s signature feeling of freedom, allowing you to sit back and cruise or really charge depending on conditions and your mood
- Directional Shape gives the board a mild taper, helpful on powder and absolutely essential for aggressive turn initiation and edge hold
- Extended Transition Areas at either end move the board gradually from camber up to the kick at the tip and tail, allowing for full-edge engagement on the snow for improved hold and control
- Power Grip Sidecut is a variable-radius design that helps the board track straight when riding flat on the base, and engages the edges earlier in the turn for improved initiation performance
- NS WooBoo Core combines traditional wood laminates with bamboo for a lively, snappy, and extremely light ride
- Custom-woven Bi-Lite Fiberglass provides tuned flex and response
- Elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers ride just below the binding inserts, providing vibration reduction and helping to absorb the impact of heavy landings
- RDS 1 Damping System rides along the edges, helping smooth out chatter from rough conditions
- Sintered P-Tex Sidewalls are stronger and bend along with the rest of the board, providing consistent flex at all times in all conditions
