Absolutely! great for those really cold days on the hill, down is naturally warm and breathable.

For a 12 year old girl she is right in the middle of a size Medium and a Large. If you think she will stay on the smaller side for a while then you can go with the medium, however, with the large she would be able to wear it for a longer period of time.
