Q:
"I ski mostly Eastern, and am about 5'7" tall, I am interested in either the Monterosa 100 or the Alps. I understand that the Monterosa 100 has more insulation, but am not sure that this would be suitable for general Eastern conditions. I was also thinking that the Alps might be a better fit given my height...any thoughts?"

Question by Tyler on 1/30/2012 - 1:38 pm
A:
"This jacket has 40g more insulation that the Spyder Alps Insulated Ski Jacket . It is going to be dramatic difference in warmth. Both jackets use Primaloft insulation which is the warmest and lightest synthetic insulation available. If you get colder easier or plan on being in extremely cold temperatures then I would go with this jacket over the Alps. Both are really great jackets, it would just depend on how cold the temperature is outside and how much you want to layer underneath. With the Monterosa you would only need a base layer in most conditions."

Q:
"What is the difference between the Monterosa and the Pinnacle jacket. Reading the descriptions makes them seem very similar."
1 Answers | Answer Question
Question by Mike on 3/20/2012 - 2:51 pm
A:
"The difference is the insulation. The Monterosa has 100g Primaloft® Sport insulation and the Pinnacle has 60g Primaloft® One insulation. PrimaLoft® ONE is the highest performing insulation on the market for warmth, water resistance, softness and compressibility. PrimaLoft® ONE is an ultra-fine microfiber insulation that is as warm, soft and lightweight, and is warmer wet or dry than all other insulations. That is why you can use less grams for the same amount of warmth. Primaloft® Sport is also one of the best but it does not have all of the same properties as the One."
