"Both jackets are going to fit nearly the same. They are the same length and fit overall. The Leader is technically a bit more superior than the Defender. The Leader has a very high waterproof rating and the insulation is 100g body / 80g sleeve Thinsulate™ insulation, so that offers great protecting for winter sports or general wear. There are also a lot of pockets and a powder skirt."

"Haven't worn Spyder jackets before and wondering if I need an XL or a L. I wear a 44L sportcoat. How are their jackets typically cut? Thanks"

"Spyder jackets tend to run small. Spyder has provided us with a detailed sizing chart located just to the right of the product picture. You can match up your measurements to the sizing chart to find the perfect fit."

"Does the Spyder Leader jacket have a connection for a wicket (the wire that holds a lift ticket) on the front of the jacket?"

Amazing Jacket. Highly recommended. Rated: 5/5

This jacket is great. You can tell right away this is a class A product and Spyder knows how to make a ski jacket. It has all the extras and features that make this ideal for skiing/snowboarding. Warm and toasty enough on windy cold days, but open up the vents and it works fine for spring skiing up to 40 degrees. Powder skirt and inner cuffs work great for those fresh and deep snow days. Lots of pockets in various positions. There are inner and outer chest pockets, sleeve pockets, standard side pockets, etc. Add to that the great Spyder design, fit and styling and I definitely give this jacket 5 stars. Best ski jacket I've owned for sure.

Note on sizing. This jacket and a few other ski jackets I've tried recently run larger than the last time I shopped a few years ago. I would typically wear an XL shirt/jacket (6 ft, 185 lbs, broad shoulders), but the XL was much too big and L has ample room and fits well.
