I had a Spyder Jacket that I bought in the early 2000's. I loved the high quality of the fabric,and accessories like zipper pulls, etc.. It really felt like you were wearing a work of art. It outlasted it's style though, so when the black accents starting flaking off I thought I would buy a less expensive jacket.This jacket fits the bill. It has everything you need. It is well made with armpit ventilation, it has less pockets, the zipper pulls are plastic, not metal. The fabric lining is not silky, but it fits nice, true to size, is warm, and is perfect length for skiing. It is half the price of my previous jacket, so it is great for what I was looking for.

Nice fit, I usually find that a Large is a tad too small especially in sleeve length but this jacket fit perfect. Quality is very good; stitching looks to hold the test of time. Color is better than expected (Planet Blue), the picture doesn't due the color justice.
Breathability is very good, I can wear this jacket in the car and then outside and never feel suffocated in it. Compartments are very good, it has several pockets for stuff including cell phone, and things. Very well thought out design.

This jacket has everything you need, nothing you don't. Enough pockets for all your gear, powderskirt, great removable hood, solid construction, and great zippers. The only bad thing about the Dark Smoke/Black jacket is that it isn't grey like in the picture. It's dark green which still looks great, but isn't exactly what was wanted. For some reason all of the pictures online (even the spyder website) show the color as a grey when the actual color is dark green.

I chose black/black; as a working alpine coach lighter colors get dirty. The hood is large enough to fit over a helmet which is great on those -5 days at the top of a course when the wind is blowing. The pockets hold a radio and a base brush too!
