Yes, it is a thermal layer you can wear under your snow pants or it can be also worn as a leisure piece.

Yes definitely. These are an excellent choice for keeping warm, and since they are silk they are really breathable so you don't overheat.

Could I wear these alone as a pant to play outside with my kids and occasionally sleigh ride or ski? Looking for a comfortable fitted pant that doesn't look like a marshmellow ski suit.

This is a thermal pant meant to be used underneath clothes. It provides warmth but it is not waterproof.
