Q:
"Hello. On the size chart, it says there is not such size as XS in Toddler; however, the size says XS and the description says "Toddler." Can you please tell me what ages this XS is recommended for? I have an almost 2 year old."

Question by Rachel on 11/26/2012 - 12:09 pm
A:
"Obermeyer shows that a size S is for a 1-2 year old, but in my experience you will need the XS. I bought a small for my niece who was 3 and it fit perfectly. I think the size XS would be your best bet since your child isn't quite 2 yet. "

I bought these for my two-year-old after struggling to get her Jello-like hands into mittens this winter. The velcro on these mittens allows the mittens to open up almost all the way up to the fingers so the hands slide right in. Very easy to get on. The thumbs are still difficult to get in the thumb hole, however. We haven't managed that yet and that is my only reason for rating the mittens a 4 instead of a 5. Maybe toddler thumbs just aren't meant for thumb holes? We just skip the thumb hole for now and all of her fingers go in the main part of the mitten. Then we fasten the velcro and we're good to go. They don't fall off easily like other mittens have. Very thick, but not heavy. Sturdy. By the way, I ordered a size XS for my two-year-old (27 months old) and they are a little big on her. Seems that they run on the larger side a tad. Overall, I'm very pleased with the mittens and I think I've finally found the mittens that will get us through the winter and probably the next as well.

Where have these been all my life??? I've wasted years struggling to put mittens on my kids. The velcro up the back makes getting these mittens on a breeze. Waterproof, warm & easy to get on....these are the perfect mittens for the little ones that like to play in the snow.
