"I recently tried on a XXL Obermeyer Kestral Jacket and LOVED IT! Unfrtunatly my wife put the veto on the orange color. i'm considering the Oxnard XXL instead. Can you please list for me the materail differences between these two. Specifically Is the size and cut the same? Is it as heavy, meaning how insulated it is (seems the Oxnard may not be as insulated) Any other materail differences I should consider?"

"We'd be happy to! The fabrics for both jackets are going to be the same. The Obermeyer Kestral Insulated Ski Jacket is made with a little bit more insulation so this will be a lighter jacket. This jacket is also about 2" longer than the Kestral, however, the fit will be the same. The only other noticeable difference is that this jacket is made with a RECCO Avalanche Rescue System reflector. That will help assist rescue teams find you in case of an avalanche! "

"If you measure from under your armpit to the wrist, it measures 23 inches. From behind your neck to the wrist I measured 38 1/2. I hope that helps. "

Great for a tall guy

This Obermeyer ski jacket is hi-tech all around! I am impressed. The only negative thing is the small pockets, but I like to carry gear. I have not field tested this jacket yet, but it is a great fit for a tall guy.

Didn't like the jacket

I did not like the style on this Obermeyer jacket, the zipper was not covered, so I decided to return it.

Fits a very tall guy very well

I would have given this a 5/5 had I been able to check its function during
the winter/ski season. But the Christmas in July event crushed that
option. I am 6'9'' (46 chest) and this XL Tall jacket fits amazingly well. The sleeve length is terrific. I wonder if anyone with less than a 38" sleeve
length would like the extra length. Body length of the jacket is amazing-
perfect. Pit zips seem small (short) but at least they don't cause
"bunching" in the arm-pit area. The snow-skirt will help keep the breeze out.

The Obermeyer jacket seems to be a tad light in insulation, but as a skier, I
suspect the activity and layering will compensate AND the lighter weight of
the jacket will extend its use (early and late season). I'm not saying its
"un"-insulated. It just seems lighter than my previous (alternate
manufacturer) jacket. I'm excited to try this out this season. I
anticipate total success.
