This jacket gives you equal protection whether youre caught in a storm at 12,000 feet or whether youre facing a rainy commute to work. The HyVent fabric is waterproof and breathable, and the Venture is fully seam sealed. Pit zips and an attached hood add even more comfort. The Venture also stows in its own pocket for easy packing.

What is the back length on the North Face Venture women's jacket? I'm looking for a longer, breathable, waterproof rain jacket to hike in. And how long does the waterproofing last? Someone told me that the waterproofing only last a couple of years. True?

The centerback measurement of the womens' Venture jacket is 26 inches. The mens' Venture jacket centerback length is 28 inches. The North Face makes their jackets to last. The waterproofing will last the life of the jacket. However, the DWR coating (what makes the water bead up on the outside) will wear down after many washes and will hold water. You will still stay dry, but the jacket will feel cold against your skin. Make sure to follow the care instructions to lengthen the life of your gear.

This is a shell jacket designed to protect against rain. You could wear insulating layers underneath for colder weather, but if you want a shell jacket for winter you may want to check out The North Face Mountain Light Shell Ski Jacket.
