  • Warmth: 10/10
xWarmthOur warmth rating comes from a combination of the insulation type and thickness or weight of the insulation, and how this combined with the garment design affects heat loss and your overall warmth.

Items with higher ratings will be warmer, and will offer you more protection in colder temperatures.
  • Waterproofing: 2/10
xWaterproofingOur waterproof rating is based on the fabric's waterproof rating, and how well the overall construction prevents water seepage.

Items with lower ratings are water-repellent, and good for light-snow conditions. Items with higher ratings will be more waterproof, and can protect you in wetter conditions.

Product Details

Style: AUFD

For The North Face Nuptse 2 Down Jacket, The North Face took the classic Nuptse and gave it a slightly slimmer silhouette so you don't look all puffed up when you go outside. Behind the durable double-layer fabric is a power punch of 700-fill goose down. Even if you're more Lambeau Field than Texas Stadium, the Nuptse Down Jacket can keep you warm in the nastiest conditions. Use the zip-in compatibility to make it a mid layer and see just how warm you can be.

Q:
"WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN WARMTH BETWEEN A GOOSE DOWN AND GORTEX FILLED SKI JACKET? WHICH JACKET DO YOU SUGGEST IS BEST FOR WARMTH FOR DOWNHILL SKIING?"
1 Answers | Answer Question
Question by JOANIE on 12/31/2011 - 8:46 am
A:
"Goose down is a type of insulation. Gore-Tex is a waterproof/breathable lining that goes inside of the jacket. The lining itself does not provide any warmth. Goose down is the warmest insulation that there is. Having a jacket with both features is the best that you can get. This jacket itself is not waterproof, it is only water-resistant. If you are skiing, you should look for something with a waterproof/breathability rating. You should check out the Patagonia Primo Down Insulated GORE-TEX Ski Jacket!"
