"Down is the best insulating material for harsh winters, this jacket has a 550 fill which is pretty warm. For negative temperatures however you should layer up really warm too. We also have The North Face Roll Down Jacket (Boys') which has a 600 fill and will provide more warmth."

"This is a great jacket but it is meant to be worn in cold winter days as down is super warm. For spring skiing you might want to look at our shells for example the North Face Nimbostratus is a great choice! It will give you the layering you need for an unpredictable spring day. "
