The North Face Thermoball Pullover is one of the warmest, most comfortable mid-layers out there. It's incredibly light, but also extremely warm. Thermoball mimics the structure of down, so it better retains warmth. It's a synthetic though, so it maintains it's ability to insulate in damp conditions. The 1/2-zip neck makes for easy on/off when layering.
