Q:
"I have two questions. Question #1. Someone earlier asked if these pants have zippers at the bottom in order to fit them over downhill ski boots - and you answered no. Does this mean these bibs are not meant for going skiing? This will be my first time skiing, so I'm confused whether these bibs will work or not with ski boots? question # 2: the product description says water resistant - is this good enough for falling in the snow lots of times as a beginner? I.e., will they keep me from getting soaked? Thanks. "
Question by Cybele on 1/23/2012 - 1:53 am
A:
"These bibs are definitely meant for skiing. They do not have the feature of the zippers on the bottom but the do fit over the boots and have gaiters so they stay in place. They have a water resistance of 3K which is on the lower side as some go up to 20K. I would say that they would be a great choice especially for a novice skier."

A:
"I would recommend a size 16."
Answer by Jaime (Peter Glenn Staff) on 1/23/2013 - 3:21 pm
Great fabric, great look.. but obviously built by a man for a man. I bought a size LARGER than what I normally wear.. and these would not zip around my waist. They would fit fine, if I were built straight up and down. But I'm not.
Prior to ordering, I measured my hips and, based upon the manufacturers size chart, ordered a 2X. Upon receiving the bibs, I was disappointed to find that they were WAAAAY too small. I couldn't even get them zipped! I'm 5'8" and normally wear size 18 in pants but, in my opinion, these were more suited for someone who wears a 12-14 (for roominess). I'm going to reorder a 3X (IF available!) while keeping my fingers crossed that they'll fit!
This is my second review on the same product. I have just purchased a second pair. I gave it a 4 before, but I have now decided it deserves a 5 for, although not as fitted as some ski bibs, they still have a nice feminine shape to them. For the price, they are unbeatable! I have now used them a few times and I love them. It seems that most people feel that they run small, but I did not find that to be the case. I am 115 pounds, 5'5", 33 1/2 hips, 25 waist and I found the small to be way too big. I ordered the small instead of the xs, to start, because my measurements were between the two and the consensus was that they ran small. I exchanged them for an xs and there is plenty of room for me to wear jeans and a sweatshirt underneath.
I don't think you can beat the quality of these bib pants for the price. Just be careful of the sizing.. I found the sizing to be off. The pants are on the large side. I am 5'5, 33" hips, 115 pounds and the xs still has plenty of room for jeans. The small that I first ordered was too large. Also, realize they are not going to be as fitted as some high end ski pant. I use the pants to snow shovel and I am very pleased.
Good product for a fair price, the sizing is waaaaaaaaaaaaay off. I'm a size 14 with a 34inch waist and I had to get the 3XL for it to fit. That is quite a bit different from the 41 inch waist the sizing chart states for that size.
I'm a novice skier, my boyfriend has been skiing for 25 years. He told me to definitely purchase ski pants with the bib. He was right! These ski pants kept this Florida girl warm on the slopes when temps were in the teens. And, I'm not sure about most beginners, but I spent a lot of time rolling in the snow. No problem, though, with my bib pants the snow stayed out! I definitely recommend the Marker Gillett Insulated Ski Bib. Received my order within a few days; fit perfect with comfortable, adjustable shoulder straps; kept me plenty warm; and I can't wait till my next ski trip!
This was a well-made product. I only needed thin moisture wicking leggings underneath and didn't feel any wind although it was a very windy and cold weekend on the ski slopes. I couldn't figure out what size to order based on the chart because I am a size 6/7 but have a little pudgy stomach. I bought both the small, medium and large. The medium was too big all around but the small was a perfect on the hips and gave me a really nice wasteline! I am 5'4" so the pants fell just right even with the ski boots on. You can't beat the price or quality. Buy it!
I am 6ft tall, with a 34 inch inseam and usually wear a 16. These bibs were not only long enough in the inseam, but in the straddle as well. I did get a 2X and find I have plenty on maneuvering room. They are VERY comfortable and warm. Love them!!
I am 5"4 125lb. I had the small which fit tightly around midsection but was OK with one layer of long underwear. I just ordered the men's small b/c the women's medium was out. The men's small fit perfectly with 4 layers underneath and had room in my hip and stomach which was great! I think the fit is pretty true to size and quality is really good for price. In above zero windchill weather I only wear these and one layer skiing so I think they warm too.
Product was exactly as pictured & described. It is below zero here with tons of snow and the bibs keep me warm & dry. Ordered wrong size on one pair - return was easy and credit issue was quick.
