I live in the South, so don't need a boot for warmth, but do need a waterproof / rain boot because of the poor, slow drainage when it rains. I know this boot is waterproof, but is it going to be too warm to wear year round?

This boot is going to be SUPER warm. It has just about as much insulation as you can get in the boot. I would not recommend this boot for year round.
