"Which is the better jacket for winter skiing, this jacket or the Spyder Diamond insulated jacket? And this jacket says water-resistant. Is it similar to those that are 10k waterproof?"

Question by Susan Voneiff on 3/22/2012 - 1:43 pm
"There are major differences between the two jackets. This jacket is not nearly as technical as the Spyder Spyder Diamond jacket is. Water-resistant and waterproof are completely different as well. Something that is water-resistant has a spray coating on it that will wick away moisture. Waterproofness is a rating given to a fabric that will not allow water to penetrate it. The Spyder Diamond jacket has 20K Waterproofing and 30K breathability which is going to keep you way more comfortable out on the slopes. Also, the Diamond in the Snow jacket has down insulation which is the warmest insulation you can get, however, it is harder to take care of if it gets wet (it takes much longer to dry out than a synthetic insulation). The Spyder Diamond has Primaloft insulation which is the warmest and lightest synthetic insulation there is. Overall, this Diamond in the Snow is more of a fashion piece and the Spyder is more of a technical jacket with really great features. "

"What are the sizing chart details for this jacket in size 6? Also for the same brand in size 8?"

Question by RobynPike on 8/31/2012 - 2:04 am
"Diamond in the Snow does not provide a sizing chart for their products. I will say that they make very feminine jackets that fit to show off a woman's figure. They will have a more fitted fit to them so if you are between sizes or do not like a really tight fit, I would recommend sizing up. "

This jacket is very well made throughout. Fits beautifully and figure flattering. Very warm and functional. Love this jacket! I am standing around watching kids' races and this jacket keeps me warm when I'm not that active.
