The Descente Best Ski Pant is a durable mens' pant with a relaxed fit. You'll love that you have plenty of room to move and layer underneath, and you'll appreciate that a tight tree run won't tear up your pants. "This particular style has a relaxed fit. Based on your measurements we do recommend to size up and choose size 40 for a more comfortable fit that will allow thermals. "

"I have a 38" waist, but short legs that require a 28" inseam. Do you have any ski pants that fit me and, if not, can the inseam length be altered without harming the integrity of the insulation and waterproofing?"

"We do offer short lengths. You can view some of out options here. You would need to contact a seamstress about the ability to shorten a pant. Sometimes you can and sometimes you cannot depending on the individual pant. "

"You would be a size 36. They should fit perfectly!"

"I wear a medium in Spyder Ski pants and have a 32" waist for jeans. I like the looser feel though because of bigger thighs. What sizing would you recommend for these pants, assuming wearing thinner thermals? They look great and comfortable..!!"

"This is not a long ski pant, it is a regular length. The size chart that we have provided has all of the inseam lengths listed (it depends on what size you need). If the regular inseam does not work for you in this pant, then you can check out some other vendors that have long inseams."

Very good ski pants but some changes from previous versions   Rated: 5/5

Overall an excellent pair of ski much so that I have a total of three. The last one I bought had some changes in construction though: the inner gaiters no longer have a vertical Velcro fastener and snap button, instead they have a one-piece elastic band that is relatively tight fitting and cannot be adjusted to fit over boots. Second, in the waist area just above the zipper, they eliminated a metal clip fastener to keep the waist closed. What's remaining unchanged are two original snap buttons which can release in hard skiing. The fix is relatively simple by going into a fabric and sewing store such as Joann's or Hancock Fabric and purchasing a interlocking fastener. There used to be an extra two inches of material where the fastener was attached outboard of the snaps. Now it has to be installed behind the button snaps.

The ski pant material is excellent and so are the heavy-duty zippers. Just the right amount of pockets and waist adjustments also. A top-notch ski pant.

Excellent Shell Ski Pant   Rated: 5/5

I purchase this Descente shell ski pant (on sale) in a light grey color the last week of March 2013 for spring skiing at Lake Tahoe. During the remaining three weeks of the season these pants were perfect for the (mostly) warm spring skiing. They are comfortable, breathe very well and I was able to dump any extra heat out of the two mesh lined vents on the outside of each thigh. Unfortunately, these mesh lined vent zips are not mentioned in the product's description, but they are there and are very useful. On a couple of cold days I just wore a heavier base layer, kept the zips closed and the pants were plenty warm.

As for fit, I am 6', 175lbs with a 35"-36" waist (unfortunately, it varies). Fortunately, these ski pants have adjustable velcro pull tabs on both sides of the waist as well as belt loops for a belt. I bought this pant in a size 36" waist and adjust the waist accordingly. One more note: I learned that Descente is a Japanese company. Due to the name, I had always assumed the products were French. Who knew?! I definitely recommend these pants.
