    Q:
"I bought last season's Burton Chopper in size 90cm for my 5 year son who is a little over 45 1/2 inches tall. The local ski shop says the shorter the better to learn which I understand. Can he get away with learning on a board that comes up to his shoulders or should I get a 100 cm to give him room to grow?"
    1 Answers | Answer Question
Question by Tom on 10/28/2011 - 7:47 pm
    A:
"The length of the snowboard is as much personal preference as anything so don’t worry too much about the perfect fit. The ranges recommended is based on size and weight. A good rule of thumb is the board should come up to the chin. How did he do with the 90cm last year? if he was improving rapidly then you can move him up to a longer size. Your son is 115cm so a 100cm board is on the longer side but he will be growing quickly. "

Great board. Best deal you'll find   Rated: 5/5

Great board for the kids. Hole pattern was wrong for the flow bindings I got but I might just need an adapter plate. Staff was very helpful. Went on sale the day after I bought it and when I called they refunded the difference. The free lesson/lift ticket was a nice bonus. It's fully transferable, so I didn't use it on my 4 year old. Worth about 60 or more dollars depending on where you go.

    Awesome Beginner Board   Rated: 4/5

My 7 year old son loves this board and it works great. He is flying down the mountain. The only improvements would be slightly narrower to improve the tow side control and perhaps an integrated stomp area to aid with chair lift exists. I really don't understand why all kids boards don't have an integrated slip resistant area for the free foot.
