The Burton Cargo insulated snowboard pants for boys are a classic Burton piece. These pants received the updated Link Zip interface this year, so he can zip his jacket to his Cargos and zip out snow and drafts. The 5K waterproof shell and 60g insulation keep him warm and dry as he works on his skills. The removable satin boxer top lets him wear his pants high or low without the crack effect.

will this 'red' match the 686 geometry jacket?

These are made by 2 different companies so they may be slightly off, but both of the reds on these are a bright true red, so they should go pretty well together.

Burton shows the inseam for the XS as 29", and the S as 30".

I notice you say the inseam in 29 xs on 30 s but it says boys. Should I not be using the youth chart for that. Just want to be certain what sizing this xs pertains to as there is a huge difference between and mens xs and a youth xs. thanks.

This is a boys pant so you will need to look at the youth sizing chart. The inseam for an XS will be 20.5".
