how warm is this jacket? 80 gram insulation for how cold weather?

This is 80g which would keep you warm in moderately cold weather and but for super cold weather I would suggest 100g or more.

hello, my son has burton pants. I was wondering if this jacket has Link Zip jacket-to-pant interface or some other kind of connection to pants? Also what is the size m equivalent to? he is 5.11 and 140 lb fit

Yes! There is an adjustable powder skirt with pant-connect snap tabs eliminates snow intrusions. You should be fine linking this with the Burton pants. Regarding sizing...always refer to the sizing chart to the right of each item. Measurements are key when it comes to choosing the bast size for jackets and pants.
