"Warmth without the sleeves"

This Patagonia vest is just like my medium sweater vest, but with room to layer underneath. Apparently, Patagonia's recent redesign sucked all the wiggle room out of the size medium for people like me, about 5'8" and 170. The large allows me to be seated with comfort, and the extra room is nice for wearing around the house. The 800 fill down is cozy and the styling is basic - no silly stylish features. The hem draw cords in the pockets are handy and keep the look clean, not sloppy with pull cords hanging out at the sides. What I didn't like was that Patagonia put gray pulls on the zippers. Everything on their basic black pieces is black, not gray. Even contacted Patagonia service, which just sent me some replacement zipper pulls, but could only provide some of the larger size black ones, no small ones. Must be a supply problem. That's why it's rated 4/5 stars.

"My go to Jacket now"

I purchased this North Face jacket. I work in all conditions...rain, cold, windy, drizzle, you name it. I work on the docks so wind and foggy drizzle are the norm during the winter months. I can wear a small base layer with this jacket and stay warm and dry which was the goal. I would recommend it to anyone needing a light weight top layer that protects against moisture, wind, and just flat out cold temps. Last week it was right above freezing with a 15-25 mile hour north wind and light drizzle. I was warm and dry ... time to grab some bottoms to compliment the top to round out this purchase.

Although, when I first opened the zipper would catch on the inner layer, until the jacket fluffs out from the shipping folds pull out and up on the zipper .. do not just pull straight up.

"Will not work as a ski jacket"

This North Face jacket is rugged, water/windproof and very warm…as promised. But, after spending two days skiing Vermont in it I feel this wont work for me as a ski jacket. There are only two (huge) slash-zip pockets in the shell. These two pockets are oriented to be useful for someone wearing a multi-day frame-pack for winter camping or such. You cannot warm your hands in them and they are so large they run from collar bone to the waist. This may not seem a big deal at first…but where are you supposed to put your lift ticket? When its on these zipper pulls the ticket will blow up and hit you in the face! And just try and find a tube of lip balm or a trail map while waiting in a lift line! It has no chest pocket inside or out for say a cell phone or some cash. Also, it has none of the specialized features that a true ski jacket should have like a powder skirt or a hood that fits over a ski helmet.

"Love it!"

I purchased this North Face jacket for my 16 yr old son as a gift, and he loves it! He is 5'9", 140 lbs and the size Small fit good, but not for long as he is still growing. So, I exchanged for a Medium and although it is bit big, it looks really good on him. It is not a real heavy coat but he wanted a lightweight one. North Face looks good and is great quality, which is why we like the brand and are willing to pay a bit more for it. Highly recommend this jacket!

This North Face hoodie is legit. No Goose Feathers! One thread was cut loose at some time, which I see as becoming a problem in the future, but all things are impermanent! Get one!

The fit on this Patagonia jacket is perfect. I can use this jacket to layer or over a shirt. It looks great, and it was on sale at a price I could not find anywhere else.

"Great Pants"

The Volkl Fitting ski pants do just that---They really fit and perform perfectly. The ability to order both by waist size and inseam really helps to get the exact right fit. The 4 way stretch material and leg vents give the pants great performance and comfort. A really outstanding product.
