This is my first hiking shoe, so i don't know if they are the most lightweight among all the hiking shoes. But they are waterproof. Unfortunately, they are very uncomfortable without changing or adding insoles. The original insoles are hard and uncomfortable. But after using other insoles, they are pretty good.
This is the second pair of these boots I have purchased and I have to say that as long as they keep making them, I will keep buying them. I wore mine for three years and never had a problem with them. The break in period is about an hour. I put them on when I get them, wear them around the house and in about an hour they're good to go.
I play disc golf year round and they are just as comfortable scrambling up and down arid terrain as they are trudging through three feet of snow. The only complaint I have is they are a little slippery on wet surfaces like tile. Barring that, I recommend these boots to every person that asks about them.
